Job Description
Technical Writer will play a critical role in authoring, editing, publishing, and archiving Knowledge Base articles on various SumTotal Enterprise products.
As a member of the Knowledge team, Technical Writer will work closely with Global Customer Support and other internal teams to:
* identify and close gaps in the Knowledge Base
* help provide accurate and relevant information for troubleshooting and case resolution purposes
The fundamental goal of this position is to reduce the number of incoming cases by building and refining a robust Knowledge Base that enables customers to be more self-sufficient. Promote SumTotal Knowledge Base as the first-level of support .
The job also involves representation on mission critical projects that include an internal or customer-facing Knowledge Base component.
Responsibilities
* Follow established document workflow standards for publishing content within the Knowledge Base.
* Responsible for translating feedback from customers and internal teams and recommendations of case avoidance analysis into Knowledge Base articles.
* Work with Subject Matter Experts to ensure content in the Knowledge Base is current and accurate.
* Review Knowledge Base articles for completeness, style, and accuracy.
* Deliver Knowledge Base articles based on set criteria, quota and timeline.
* Communicate newly published Knowledge Base articles to stakeholders.
* Assist the leadership on Knowledge Base projects and reports.
* Represent mission critical projects that include an internal or customer-facing Knowledge Base component.
* Train cross-functional teams on how to write Knowledge Base articles.
* Suggest recommendations for process improvements.
* Understand and gain hands on experience on SumTotal products.
* Cater to ad hoc requests
Skills/Requirements
* Bachelor"s degree in IT/English/Journalism/Communications.
* 1-2 years of experience in technical writing, editing, publishing, and content management.
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
* Focus on customers and results.
* Working knowledge of applications such as MS Project, MS Office, MS SharePoint.
* Good analytical skills.
